Over 300 Fuji King Debarkers Installed Worldwide
Kadant Carmanah has been a leader in rotary debarking since first introducing the Fuji King Debarker to North America over 30 years ago. Since then, we have worked with hundreds of customers across a variety of industries – including pulp mills, OSB plants, chip plants, pellet plants, and mobile chipping facilities – helping them find the right debarking setup and configuration to efficiently remove bark from cut-to-length logs of all shapes, species, and conditions.
How a Fuji King Rotary Debarker Works
As the Fuji King Debarker’s rotors turn, the cut-to-length logs tumble within the debarking chamber. This action creates abrasive log-to-log contact, which in addition to contact with the rotors’ debarking plates, helps to efficiently break the bond between the wood and the bark with minimal fiber loss. The loose bark is cut and forcibly expelled as it passes through the rotor combs’ teeth.
Modular By Design
to Fit Your Needs
One of the reasons the Fuji King Debarker has over 300 units installed worldwide is because of how its modular design can be sized and configured to fit any application.

Multiple Sized Modules
The Fuji King Debarker is available in modules that cover a wide range of sizes – as 30 or 40-feet lengths, across a variety of widths and heights. This modular design ensures the system can be sized to accommodate different log diameters and lengths, and allows mill owners to install two or more modules to meet their capacity targets.

Various Debarking Plate Profiles
The Fuji King Debarker is available with bolt-on, quick-change debarking plate profiles to suit variations in wood species, moisture content, log diameter, log shape, seasonal conditions, and age of wood.
Adjustable Log Dwell Time
The Fuji King Debarker’s variable rotor speed and its hydraulically powered outfeed gate height are adjustable to control the log dwell time. This allows operators to adjust the log fill level and its duration in the log compartment for optimal debarking conditions.
Experience the Benefits of
Rotary Log-to-Log Contact
With its innovative combination of mechanical abrasion and log-to-log contact, the Fuji King Debarker efficiently breaks the bond between wood and bark. The degree of log-to-log contact is a function of rotor speed, debarking block placement, and log fill level. As conditions change and bark-to-fiber bond varies, the ability to easily change the rotor speed, debarking blocks, or fill levels, allow mills to maximize their fiber recovery targets year-round.

Frozen Wood
Simply by changing the bolt-on, quick-change debarking plate profiles to suit frozen wood conditions, this eliminates the need for water or steam-based log thawing systems. The result is the consistent production of cleanly debarked logs with minimal fiber loss.
Stringy Wood
When used to process species with stringy bark, such as Eucalyptus and Acacia, the Fuji King Debarker does an excellent job of separating, cutting, and expelling loosened bark from the flow of debarked logs. This reduces the need for post-debarking, bark separation rolls.
Crooked Logs
During the rotary debarking process, logs are in contact with the rotors over their entire length. This ensures that crooked or knotty logs with non-uniform shapes can be just as effectively debarked as straight logs.
Small Diameter Logs
Tight tolerances between the debarking blocks and the comb teeth on a Fuji King Debarker ensure maximum retention of useable fiber, including on small diameter logs.

Low Power Consumption
Cut-to-length logs are conveyed through the Fuji King Debarker by the slope of the module, aided by the arrangement of debarking plates. This requires lower power consumption than a conventional drum debarker, while also operating at a lower noise level.

Low Noise Levels
In addition to having rotor action that is much less aggressive compared to a conventional drum debarker, the Fuji King Debarker operates at lower noise levels than drum debarkers.
Your Partner in Rotary Debarking
With decades of experience in manufacturing and servicing the Fuji King Debarker, we bring a consultative approach to how we find the optimal debarking setup and configuration for your application. We consider wood species, throughput capacity, mill yard layout, outfeed rates, dwell times, steady log flow, wood conditions, power consumption, log sizes, and many more variables and limitations.
